Never played 33 Rotation? It takes one rack to learn and a lifetime to master. Here's everything you need for your first game.
The basics
A match is 3 rounds. You and your opponent take turns, and each of you plays your own rack.
- Off the break: any ball you pocket on the break is +1 point.
- In rotation: after the break, every ball you make in rotation (in order, lowest to highest) is a point.
- Out of rotation: you can pocket any ball you like, but those points are locked. They only count if you go on to pocket the 11 ball.
That's the gamble. Go out of rotation and you're betting you'll get a shot at the 11 and make it. Miss, and your round ends with those points still locked.
Where the 33 comes from
Run every ball in rotation and finish on the 11, and you earn a +2 bonus. That's an 11-point round. Do it all three rounds and you've scored 33, the 33 Rotation equivalent of a perfect 300 in bowling.
Learn the details
There's more to it than this, and the Learn 33 Rotation section covers it all, with video lessons and an interactive tutorial you can play through at your own pace.
Keeping score in the app
You keep your own score, and it only takes a couple of taps:
- If nothing drops on the break, mark Dry Break.
- When you pocket a ball, tap Add Shot, select the ball you just made, and press Done to submit it.
The app takes care of the rest: rotation, locked points, the 11, and the bonus.
